As a former professional player and coach who has traversed the globe as a player, will address the mental aspect of the game which often goes unaddressed, the stresses of travelling, training in different time zones, nad competing against foreign competition and keeping up personal performances is taxing physically and Mentally and very much like being a member of the military.
Sports Universities felt it was necessary to bring on a former professional player who had the experience of not just playing but has experienced these particular types of stresses that is involved from playing in various countries and who is willing to nurture them and guide them through this process but also has a unique skill set that these young pre professional players learn from.
Blissett scored over 100 league goals for Crewe Alexandra and Brentford. He picked up a Third Division title medal with Brentford in 1992.
Blissett moved to Wimbledon summer of 1993. He was mostly a substitute in his four seasons at Wimbledon, starting only ten matches and scoring three goals. He had a loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers during that time, and also a loan spell back at Crewe Alexandra, before leaving Wimbledon in 1997 for a brief spell with Sembawang Rangers in Singapore. He completed his playing career with a four-year spell in Germany at SV Elversberg.
